Sooner or later, every founder gets the quote that's half the price of everyone else's. It's tempting, especially when budgets are tight. But cheap software has a way of becoming the most expensive line item you'll ever pay for.
What the low quote leaves out
The cheap bid almost never includes architecture, testing, documentation, or the senior judgment that prevents expensive mistakes. Those costs don't disappear, they just arrive later, with interest.
Rework is the real cost
Software built without a plan gets rebuilt. The second build costs more than doing it properly the first time would have, and that's before you count the months you lost shipping the wrong thing.
Cheap isn't the problem, unaccountable is
Price by itself isn't the issue. The issue is no one being responsible when it breaks. Pay for clarity and accountability, not just the lowest hourly rate.
